YOUR BASSMASTER
Some sort of 'Bass Guru', Matthew grew up in Massachusetts and attended Berklee College of Music. He obsessively cultivated his relationship with music, branching out into composition, teaching, and sound design.
His path lead him towards yoga and meditation, which became integral in his approach to music. Through experience, he has cultivated an approach to the instrument and music itself known as Zen Bass.
Matthew Kniffin
Whether you're just starting your journey on the bass or on a path of mastering the instrument, together we will explore the world of music and cultivate our musicianship.
I provide resources to help make the sessions feel as immersive as possible.

ZEN BASS METHOD
The Zen Bass Method focuses on the connections between life and the musical pursuit. Instead of only becoming better musicians, we focus on becoming better people. Becoming more aware of the mystical nature of life and music will allow doors to open far beyond your enhanced musicianship. Together we will journey into the musical unknown and explore the instrument in a deeply meaningful way.
Long term students will get a more seasoned flavor of this approach, and for all beginning students we of course start by getting a great sound out of the instrument and focus on the music you want to play.
